Deep in the Heart of Texas

San Antonio was, what I assume uncharacteristically cold and rainy. After a 7 hour drive, we arrived with enough time to change clothes, pee, stretch and hit the Alamo & Riverwalk for some booze and food. before we walked to the venue for the first night of the festival. Turnout was low, as expected for a rainy Friday night. We stayed til the end, no bands really making an impact aside from Code 1. Comprised of members of Argy Bargy, The Warriors and various other English Oi bands, these veterans of Oi stayed true to the early 80's sound. Afterward, we ventured back to the hotel where we hunted down other bands to drink the night away with. We stumbled upon a band from Utah on the third floor. Long story short, several beers and their singer's busted nose later we were back downstairs.
The next morning we drove across town for breakfast at Lulu's Bakery and Diner, once featured on Man v Food for their famous 3 pound cinnamon roll. But cinnamon delights weren't what were after, we were seeking the "best chicken fried steak in San Antonio". Literally the size of a large dinner plate and covered in queso, the chicken fried steak lived up to its name. In fact, we were back the next morning. The rest of the day was spent wandering around looking for hoodies, sombreros and coonskin hats. We went onstage on time, fucked up a little bit due to alcohol and had a great time. Iron Cross played on the inside stage shortly after us. During their last song, Crucified, something went wrong between rival crews leading to a couple stabbings. I've said it before, I'll say it again; San Antonio is fuckin crazy.
The next night, after we returned from a cold, wet day at Six Flags Fiesta Texas, we were invited to a private show from Patriot and Code 1 at a practice space outside the city. We, along with 12 others were given the rare treat of seeing these two bands perform, drama free. How lucky am I, a 21 year old skinhead girl to watch and let alone be asked to perform with these bands? Afterward we ended up at a bar and upon last call we said goodbye to our new friends from the UK. I can't wait to see them again in Philadelphia in May for East Coast Oi Fest.

glamorus company

We threw Kymm a little graduation BBQ yesterday, complete with Lisa Frank decorations, tiara, s'mores brownies and flammable tablecloth.

Will and I went out tonight to Artmosphere to see Eddie's band. In a sea of dreadlocks, earth tones and sandals of every color and creed, we were out of place. But starting trouble with the local trust fund hippies wasn't on our minds tonight. We're back on for Texas Oi & Punk Fest this upcoming weekend in San Antonio. I'm almost more excited about the Mexican food than the show we've got to play.
